DUST & FEATHERS
In Dust & Feathers, paper ceases to be merely the support or body of the image and becomes a territory where matter, perception and transformation act together. The bird runs through the project from its appearance as a subject to becoming a vehicle for questions of memory, violence, regeneration and the transformation of the living. Folds, charcoal, paint, light and shadow construct a language in which the image emerges, accumulates, becomes concealed or seems to dissolve into matter itself.
Dust and feathers condense this language: what remains when matter gives way, and the possibility of elevation.
